BL UFC 14 – Betting Odds, Predictions, and Analysis

As a supplement to the awesome content already being created by Justin and Jesse for BL UFC, I’m throwing my hat in the ring and including a write-up for the upcoming BL UFC event, BL UFC 14. It’s pretty crazy to think that we are already this deep into the Better League fight game. Expect to see these for future events, which will include fight analysis, betting odds, league-wide fight predictions, and other general information surrounding the fighters on the card. Below each fight preview are the results of the League-wide vote; a big thanks to everyone who participated!

If anyone has any suggestions on improving this aspect of BL UFC content, please let us know and we will work it in.

Main Event: Cody (7-3) Vs. Niko (11-3) III (BL UFC Championship)

This will be an absolute barnburner. After splitting the first 2 fights, we’re back for the trilogy for the Better League strap. This match is a striker’s delight, with both Cody and Niko having knockout victories over each other. In fact, they have a combined 16 Knockouts out of 18 wins. Despite the notable height and weight differences, these two are here to bang. For my official prediction, give me Niko to take the belt at -200. Niko had a very impressive knockout in their last meeting, and I can see the same happening here. The height and reach advantage held by Niko will simply be too much to overcome. However, anything can happen in a fight, and Cody’s shown that time and time again, with some incredibly impressive finishes. Expect Cody to come out swinging and pushing the pace once the cage doors close, but I ultimately see him touching grass in this one.

Cam (8-3) vs. Nick (4-1)

This fight will be another big time test for Nick, as he is called in to fight seasoned veteran Cam in the co-main event slot. It’s likely that the winner of this would be next in line for a title shot. I’m genuinely curious to see how this plays out. However, I think Cam has all of the tools necessary to take this one home, which he’s proven with his 8-3 career record. Nick had a fight against Niko, another top ranking opponent at BL UFC 10, where he was knocked out early in the first round. The same could happen here, and I think he needs to settle in and get past the first round to have a chance. If that happens, I think we could be looking at a decision. Give me Cam at -175 to win by decision. Though this has the potential to be crazy.

Morty (5-3) vs. Cmass (5-4)

This is a true measuring stick fight between two fighters who’ve both had their shares of ups and downs. CMass has a solid reach advantage, but has shown in the past that there is a path to victory for his opponent Morty. This ones a coin flip, but give me CMass at even odds. If he can avoid the knockout, he could coast to a decision win. The public is unsure of the outcome here as well, with Morty receiving almost 54% of the vote. They have 6 performance bonuses between the two of them, proving that no matter the outcome, the true winner is the audience.

Ben (5-4) vs. Kiing (4-4)

This fight features two BL members that fought back in the early days of BL UFC. Both have proven they have what it takes to be in the upper echelon of BL fighters. The winner of this fight has the potential to make up for past losses and go on a serious run. I don’t put it past either of these guys to string some wins together and contend for title shots down the line. Give me Season 46 Champion Ben here at -115. I’m siding with the league vote, and He’s shown that he can dig deep for the victory. I anticipate this fight to start out slow and pick up in the later rounds, perhaps with a knockout or TKO in rounds 2 or 3.

Hero (2-3) vs. Little Alex (0-9)

It seems as if Hero has his work cut out for him here. Little can’t catch a break, suffering horrific knockout after horrific knockout, each outdoing the last. However, he’s shown promise, and has had some really solid performances that were cut short by lucky shots. Given that, I cannot, in good faith, go against the armed forces in this one, so I am HAMMERING the Hero moneyline set at -1000. Anybody in the fight game has a chance, and the public agrees given the vote count. I just don’t see this being Little’s night. Give me Hero by knockout.

Steel (3-4) vs. Connor (4-6)

I’ve had my eye on this one since Connor’s call out of Steel in the discord chat. It’s another battle of two of the earliest BL UFC fighters, who both participated in the BL UFC 1 tournament. Connor has a few performance bonuses in the past, and it’s hard to look past when picking a winner for this matchup. For Steel, he’s looking to get back to a .500 record and is motivated to get back to his winning ways. The sportsbook has this one as a pick ‘em, and I will back Connor here by decision. I think this scrap has all the makings of a Fight of the Night. Don’t take your eyes off this one,  it could get wild fast.

Justin vs. Bos (chat’s pick)

The people have spoken, and we have another crazy fight on tap to round out the BL UFC 14 card. I find this fight to be a tad lopsided given their respective records and rankings, and fully expect Justin to dictate where this fight goes. The league disagrees, with Bos getting the majority of the vote in the polls. Justin’s looking to rebound from a recent loss, and will attempt to win by any means necessary. Bos has shown power in the past, owning a first round KO over Little Alex at BL UFC 5. If he can channel that same energy I can see the upset happening. For my official bet,  I’ll sprinkle a unit on Justin winning inside the distance.

That’s all I got for now; make sure to tune in Saturday Night at 11:30 PM EST to see how BL UFC 14 plays out!
