Meet the Rookies: Patriots K Skylar Scott

Skylar Scott, the Patriots’ rookie kicker out of Rice University, has been making waves in the Better League since being taken in the third round of the Season 42 draft. Standing at just 5’9″ and 180 pounds, Scott may be undersized for a kicker, but he more than makes up for it with his powerful leg.

In his first season with the Patriots, Scott has already made a name for himself with a walk-off, iced field goal in the pouring rain against the defending champion Jets. The kick, which came in the final seconds of the game, sealed a victory for the Patriots and solidified Scott as a reliable and clutch player.

“I’ve always tried to use my size to my advantage,” Scott said in an interview. “I may not be the biggest guy out there, but I work hard to generate as much power as possible with every kick. It’s all about technique and practice for me.”

Patriots coach JC Burns is also a fan of Scott’s abilities. “We were thrilled to trade up in the third round to get Skylar,” Burns said. “The kid is special. He’s already proven himself to be a valuable asset to our team and we have high hopes for his future with the Patriots.”

Scott’s strong start to his professional career is a welcome sight for the Patriots, who have struggled with kickers in the past. With his powerful leg and clutch performances, it looks like Scott is here to stay and will be a crucial part of the Patriots’ success for seasons to come.
