Better League WR Rankings

In the ever-evolving landscape of the NFL, the role of wide receivers has taken centre stage as the league witnesses an era of extraordinary pass-catching talent. These dynamic playmakers have the ability to turn the tide of a game with their speed, agility, and exceptional hands, leaving fans in awe with their acrobatic catches and game-changing touchdowns.

To shed light on the NFL’s top wide receivers, we turn to the discerning voices of the Better League users. A community renowned for their passionate love of the game, the Better League users have cast their votes to determine who stands atop the ranks of these offensive juggernauts. Their collective wisdom, insights, and football acumen provide a valuable perspective on the game’s most electrifying position.

Madden had it’s say yesterday, now let’s turn to the true experts of football, the wonderful users of the Better League. We asked users of the Better League to name their top 10 Wide Receivers in the NFL today and in total we have a total of 19 different players chosen. Scoring system is as follows, if a player was selected as the #1 ranked WR by a user he received 10 points, #2 ranked WR receives 9 points etc etc etc all the way down to the #10 WR receiving 1 point.

Honourable mentions

#19 – Jordan Addison – 1 point

Tied #16 – DJ Moore – 2 points

Tied#16- Chris Godwin – 2 points

Tied#16 – Amon-Ra St. Brown – 2 points

Rookie Jordan Addison yet to play a snap in the NFL sneaks onto the list with a singular 10th place vote.

Three way tie for #16 with newly acquired Bears WR DJ Moore, Buccaneers  Chris Godwin and HoF Lions WR Amon-Ra St Brown. DJ Moore received a singular 9th placed vote while both Godwin and St. Brown were placed on two lists at #10

#15 – Amari Cooper – 5 points

Raiders to Cowboys to Browns. Amari would rank much higher on a list of tictactoe WRs

A solid first season in Cleveland, he clocked 1160 yards and 9 TDs(career high) but it’s Cleveland so who’s paying attention anyway.

Amari was ranked by 3 users, with a 9th, 9th and 10th placed vote .

Madden ranking – 10th overall, 91 rating

#14 – Deandre Hopkins – 8 points

Another elite tictactoe WR: Texans, Cardinals and now Titans.

Injured in 2021 and PED suspension in 2021 has dropped Deandre Hopkins down from his top 3 status as a WR.

Hopkins received votes from only 2 users, with both a 10th and 4th placed vote. He was unranked by the rest of users. We still have a believer out there.

Madden ranking – 7th overall, 93 rating

Tied#12 – Mike Evans – 12 points

Tied #12 – Deebo Samuel – 12 points

A tie occupies both the 12th and 13th spot with two NFC WRs

Mike Evans, the beacon of consistency as he tallied his 9th straight 1000 yard season however his TDs took a bit of a dip to only 6.

Deebo exploded onto the scene in 2021 with over 1700 all purpose yards and 14 TDs however ankle and hamstring injuries limited him last season. With a return to 2021 form he’d be sure to jump way up the rankings.

Both Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel recieved votes from 5 different users and both had a high ranking of 7th place.

Madden rankings

Mike Evans – 12th overall, 90 rating

Deebo Samuel – 14th overall, 89 rating

#11 – DK Metcalf – 15 points

One half of the Metcalf Lockett duo in Seattle, DK slots just outside the top 10.

DK recorded his 2nd 1000 yard season last year and remains one of the top talents at WR in madden.

Received votes from 5 different users with a high of 6th place.

Madden ranking – 17th overall, 88 rating

#10 – Ceedee Lamb – 16 points

Ceedee pips DK Metcalf by 1 singular point to take a coveted spot in the top 10.

Last year he set career highs in yards(1359) and TDs(9).

Ceedee also received votes from 5 different users with a high of 5th place.

Madden ranking – 11th overall, 90 rating

#9 – Jaylen Waddle – 18 points

The bottom of the list are only separated by a few points each but we’re going to start taking some big leaps.

Jaylen Waddle built upon an impressive rookie year by nearly doubling his yards per catch from 9.8 to 18.1. This allowed him to go for 350 yards more than his rookie season on 30 less catches.

Waddle received votes from 5 different users with a high of 5th place.

Madden ranking – 18th overall, 88 rating

#8 – Terry McLaurin – 39 points

Terry receives over double the points of #9 ranked Jaylen Waddle and carves out his own little role at #8.

Another beacon of consistency, in Terry’s 4 seasons he’s had yards marks of 919, 1118, 1053, 1191 all with subpar QB play.

Terry received votes from 11 different users and nine of these votes were between 7 and 9. One user voted him at #5 and one at #10.

Madden ranking – 8th overall, 92 rating

#7 – AJ Brown – 76 points

My personal favourite WR, AJ Brown, slots into #7 and nearly doubles Terry McLaurin’s points.

Has been hampered by hamstring injuries from time to time but when he’s on he’s one of the best in the game. After lighting it up in Tenneesee for 3 seasons he was traded to the Eagles and recorded nearly 1500 yards en route to the superbowl.

AJ Brown was ranked on all but 3 users lists and reached a high of #4 place on 3 users lists.

Madden ranking – 9th overall, 91 rating

#6 – Stefon Diggs – 82 points

Stefon Diggs and AJ Brown create their own little tier here before we take another jump up.

The Viking turned Bills receiver has been Josh Allen’s favourite weapon since joining Buffalo with over 1200 yards each year.

Like AJ, Stefon was also left off 3 user lists but reached a high of 1st place with 1 user.

Madden ranking – 4th overall, 96 rating

#5 – Ja’Marr Chase – 108 points

A surprise here? Before doing the list I was sure Ja’Marr would be a lock for a top 3 slot, I suppose the good folks of better league think different.

After a dominant rookie season where he racked up nearly 1500 yards and 13 TDs, he battled his way to 1000 yards as a nasty hip injury kept him out for 4 games midseason

Ja’Marr Chase was featured on every single list apart from 1 and reached a high of 2nd placed votes.

Madden ranking – 6th overall, 94 rating

#4 – Cooper Kupp – 112 points

Kupp has been present as a top WR since he jumped out in 2019. However things reached new levels when Rams traded for HoF QB Matthew Stafford and he caught 145 yards for nearly 2000 yards while winning the SB.

Kupp missed half of last season through injury but still managed to 800 yards.

Cooper Kupp was present in every list apart from 2 with a high of a 1st placed vote.

Madden ranking – 5th overall, 96 rating

#3 – Tyreek Hill – 125 points

Mr 99 speed gets the bronze medal. After running around for 4 seasons and winning a superbowl with all time QB Patrick Mahomes he moves to sunny Florida with the Miami Dolphins.

And then all he does is rack up over 1700 yards with his new QB in his first season.

Tyreek Hill was on every list except for 1 and had a high ranking of 1st place.

Madden ranking – 2nd overall, 98 rating

#2 – Davante Adams – 136 points

Who needs Aaron Rodgers? FTP. Davante slides into the 2nd slot.

First season away from the Packers and Davante snags himself another 1500 yard season while leading the league in receiving TDs. Now without Derek Carr how high can Davante go?

Davante Adams made an appearance on every single list with a high of 1st place. He also had a low of 9th place.

Madden ranking – 3rd overall, 97 rating

#1 – Justin Jefferson -172 points

No surprise at #1 here. An absolute monster from his rookie year where he recorded 1400 yards.

Last season he led the league in yards with 1809

Justin Jefferson was present on every single list with an obvious high for 1st place. His lowest ranking was 4th overall

Madden ranking – 1st overall, 99 rating

Thanks to all that participated in these rankings, I would like to continue and also complete RB, TE and QB and will send out those questions in the coming days.
