Content-a-palooza the RB part

Sorry for the delay everyone, was actually busy at work with work. Today though I’m gonna try to pump out two articles, if not today you’ll get two sometime this week or next! Anyways todays article is about running backs! Same model will be used for every position to keep it linear. In case you forget or are just reading for the first time this is the only guideline:

For the positions be as in depth as you would like (talk about physicals, certain atts, age, throw motion, etc). Also treat it as if players are capped at 90 overall. We all want 99 overall players but if you could only pick certain atts which ones mean the most to you.

 So here we go!

What do you look for in a RB?

  • Speeds good ofc, but also I’m a big Juke and spinner so that too, and ofc break tackle.
  • Just give me a speedy boy with good accel. So much of madden run game is blocking and having good instincts to set up your blocks with pursuit angles.
  • I’m looking for a back that can break a tackle and make the first man miss. Speed is just gravy. Ball carrier vision and agility is key
  • I run a two-back offense. I run plenty of split sets and normally do not carry a FB on roster. That position is replaced with a power RB. For my RB1, I look for a three-down back with the elusive archetype. The NFL comp for my RB1 would be Matt Forte. The RB1 needs at least 90 speed, solid juke and elusiveness, as well as solid catching attributes. For my RB2, I look for a power back. This position acts as a pseudo-Fullback. I look for a back with at least 88 speed and over 230 pounds. This back needs to have elite carrying and trucking so they can be trusted to spell the HB1.
  • speed/accel and COD. i don’t like feeling like i’m driving or steering a ship, i want my runners to be fast and can cut on a dime.
  • HB’s I look for speed, BCV, weight. Don’t care at all about jukes spins etc. #leftstickgang
  • Around 6 ft, 210 ideally. Not too small, not too big. I mean Saquon’s build + speed would be great, but that’s rare. Usually speed is the #1 thing, but it won’t matter much to me if they are one of the 5’8/5’9 fellas. They aren’t as effective
  • any rb with a respectable combination of strenth and speed. If that is not possible, i look for rbs with good receiving attributes. I also go for a more physically imposing rb with some size if possible
  • Size speed. Mostly size and carry but good speed is always a plus. Id prefer like 92 speed and 6’0 230lb rb rather than a 96 speed 5’8 190lb rb.
  • Breaktackle rating and agilty matter alot to me
  • For RB, I look for mostly speed and COD.

1-10 how much does having a good RB matter to you?

  • RB I would put at 4. I wouldn’t exactly call myself a run game guru.
  • 7, I have always been a run-first user so I love having an elite XF running back, but RB’s are a dime a dozen and they are incredibly easy to develop.
  • 8, i great RB instantly makes me a playoff user, see Kenneth Walker last cycle
  • 9.
  • They aren’t too valuable for me so I’d say a 3. Having an ability one is nice, tho.
  • 7 but i think theres a lot of good rbs and they’re easy to dev if they have the physicals so it’s important but like a 70 ovr rb is considered good to me if theyre fast ish and big
  • 5 out of 10 for how much they matter to me
  • Having a good HB is like an 8 or 9! Makes a big difference in how effective my offense is.
  • 8/10
  • i’m more of a rushing user myself so i enjoy playing to my strength and a good RB helps that
  • 5, with solid consistent play, any RB can be devved pretty easily compared to other positions

What attribute(s) do you think are overrated?

  • would say speed is overrated at RB. That sounds crazy but burst is more important for me there
  • Def most of the receiving ones, I feel like most rbs catch well no matter once
  • The last two cycles have shown that even the most elite RB’s can be fumble happy, so I think that juke move and spin move are the most overrated since most of us play on conservative anyway.
  • impact blocking. what the hell is even that and does it work?
  • Carry. Conservative>
  • speed at RB is overrated
  • Overrated attributes… I don’t think any are “overrated” per se but again I don’t personally care about jukes spins etc.
  • I don’t care much about juke or spin, EA broke those anyway
  • A running back with high strength doesn’t FEEL important to me
  • Carrying is overrated because they’re going to fumble/not fumble anyway.
  • rbs with extreme speed (95+)

Some final thoughts here, everyone wants a fast boy but they want a big fast boy as if they forget that Corey Crockett was a small framed freak. It makes sense though with how easy it is to dev a rb you would look for physicals then build him how you want.

The numbers were every where and if you knew the users you would understand, one user decided to not even give a number! My biggest take away is that people really want a good RB but RB very rarely get traded. I get they’re easy to dev but you’d think starting with a good one would be an option.

Overall people think carrying is pointless and I totally get it, I jumped on the conservative train this past cycle, but if madden brings back the jukes maybe that answer will change. Little surprised that everyone wants speed on their rb but they also think it’s overrated.

thanks for reading. (Hopefully) I’ll see you tomorrow!
